WORLD WILDLIFE DAY
'Wildlife' is a term that
refers to animals that are not normally domesticated. They are a living
resource that will die and be replaced by others of their kind. Wildlife plays an important role in balancing the
environment and provides stability to different natural processes of nature. It
can be found in all ecosystems, desert, rainforests, plains and other areas.
India's wildlife is both rich and varied, it includes all flora
and fauna, animals, plants and macro organisms.
Wildlife is important for its beauty, economic, scientific and survival value. It
helps to maintain the ecological balance of nature and maintains the food
chain. It provides useful substances and wild animal products like ivory,
leather, honey, tusk etc. Besides being a country's cultural asset it also
provides aesthetic value to man. We largely depend on wildlife for every
elementary requirement in our life.Example: The clothes we wear and the medicines we consume.
Wildlife conservation
encompasses all human activities and efforts directed to preserve wild animal
from extinction it involves both protection and scientific management of wild
species. Wildlife and nature have largely being associated which
humans for numerous emotional and social reasons. Wildlife plays an essential
role in the ecological and biological processes that are yet again significant
to life. The normal functioning of the biosphere
depends on endless interaction among animals, plants and micro organisms.
Wildlife has occupied a special place of veneration and preservation in various
cultures of the world.

International Year of Pulses
The United Nations declared 2016 the International Year of Pulses (“IYP”). The IYP aims to increase awareness of the many benefits of pulses, including their nutritional profile, environmental and sustainability benefits, affordability and potential to address global food security.
In 2013 the United Nations declared that 2016 will be the International Year of Pulses. The hope of the 2016 International Year of Pulses (IYP 2016) is to position pulses as a primary source of protein and other essential nutrients.
IYP 2016
will promote broad discussion
and cooperation at the national, regional and global levels to increase
awareness and understanding of the challenges faced by pulse farmers, be
they large scale farms or small land holders.
POEM ON POLLUTION
Look outside, see the treesWatch the flowers in the breeze
Things won't be like this in a year or two
If polluting is all we do
Seize the night
Seize the day
Things won't always be this way
Thousands of people are dying
In the night you hear children crying
Let's stop the war
Our people are sore
The world can't help itself
Who cares about your wealth
Help me to help you
Show the world what you can do
SOLUTION TO PROBLEM - POLLUTION
1. Locate and orientate the
exhaust away from the nearby air sensitive receptor
2 .Preference should be given to extend the exhaust to a level of at least 3m above the highest point of the restaurant's own building and any adjacent or attached buildings within a 20m radius
3. Seek advice from environmental professionals when locating exhaust outlet
CAR POOL |
4 . Use smokeless fuel, such as gas and electricity
5. No outdoor cooking, e.g. hotpot & BBQ
USING BICYCLES FOR SHORT DISTANCES |
Types of Pollution
Air Pollution:
Air pollution is the introduction of particulates, biological molecules, or other harmful substances into Earth's atmosphere, causing diseases, allergies, death to humans, damage to other living organisms such as animals and food crops, or the natural or built environment.
Water Pollution
Water pollution is the contamination of water bodies. This form of environmental degradation occurs when pollutants are directly or indirectly discharged into water bodies without adequate treatment to remove harmful compounds.
Water pollution affects the entire biosphere – plants and organisms living these bodies of water. In almost all cases the effect is damaging not only to individual species and population, but also to the natural biological communities.
Noise Pollution
Noise
pollution or noise disturbance is the disturbing or excessive noise that may harm the activity or balance of human or animal
life. The source of most outdoor noise worldwide is mainly caused by machines and transportation systems, motor vehicles, aircraft, and trains. Outdoor noise is summarized by the word environmental
noise. Poor urban planning may give rise to noise pollution, since
side-by-side industrial and residential buildings can result in noise pollution
in the residential areas. Documented problems associated with urban noise go
back as far as Ancient Rome.
About Pollution
Earth is considered as the only planet suitable for the life existence in the whole universe. It gives us everything like air, water, land, plants, and sky for the healthy survival of the life. We cannot live here in the absence of all the basic components of life. In any case if the serious pollution problems occur, it causes hazardous to the life. Increasing number of vehicles on the roads and increasing demands of the usage of the petrol and diesel increases the risk of air pollution as petrol and diesel spread heavy amount of poisonous gases in the environment such as carbon monoxide, sulphur-dioxide, hydrocarbons, and many more gases are polluting the air. Now-a-days, a major threat to the life is due to the development of nuclear sciences.
The polluted air we breathe
goes to our whole body and affect all the systems especially respiratory
functions. It becomes the reason of origin of many diseases like cancer,
respiratory problems, lungs disorders, bronchitis, asthma and many more. The
increasing competitions of the nuclear experiments all over the world are
creating the big threat of atmospheric balance destruction as this process
releases lots of harmful chemicals, poisonous gases, and dust into the air
which falls back again to the earth through acid rains and harms the growth of
crops and life. This acid rain causes various harmful diseases to the human
fraternity worldwide. Water pollution is increasing because of the direct
drainage of industrial liquid wastes into the water of ocean, lakes, rivers,
ponds and other water bodies. This water is used by the farmers in growing
crops which we eat and disturb our physiological functioning.
POLLUTION
Pollution is the
introduction of contaminants into the natural environment that cause adverse
change. Pollution can take the form of chemical substances or energy, such
as noise, heat or light. Pollutants, the components of pollution, can be
either foreign substances/energies or naturally occurring contaminants.
